REAL, UNRECONCILED SIZE DISCREPANCY worth carrying rather than papering over: a speaker-size spec chart lists the LaCrosse front and rear door drivers as 6.75", while a car-audio forum breakdown of the same generation's OEM layout describes them as 6.5". The practical reconciliation — and the reason this is low-risk for a builder — is that aftermarket adapter brackets are sold specifically for 2010-2015 LaCrosse listing BOTH 6.5" and 6.75" fitment, i.e. the factory opening takes either size with the correct ring. Plan on an adapter either way.

Factory audio integration

Factory amp / premium audiooptional-on-some-trims — Bose. Two speaker counts are documented for this generation: premium/higher trims run 11 speakers WITH a factory amplifier, base/standard trims run 7 speakers with the amp optional. REAL, UNRESOLVED AMP-LOCATION CONFLICT: one source places the factory amp on the PASSENGER SIDE OF THE TRUNK, behind the bracket that holds the fuel pump, and explicitly ties its presence to having rear-deck speakers ('the factory amp is only on the Bose system'); a second source instead places LaCrosse-family amplifiers UNDERNEATH THE REAR DECK, inside the trunk. Both are trunk-interior locations and both are plausible across a 7-year run and two audio configurations, so neither was discarded. Verify on the actual car before cutting or mounting anything against the trunk's front-upper area.
Adding subs without a head-unit swapYes — and this generation is unusually friendly to it for two real, specific reasons. FIRST: the car already has an 8-gauge power wire run into the trunk from the factory, which removes the single most tedious part of a normal sub install (pulling new power through the firewall). SECOND: on Bose cars the input to the factory Bose amp is SPEAKER-LEVEL, not line-level, so a normal RCA-style line output converter tapped between head unit and amp is the wrong tool and degrades the original signal. The confirmed correct approach on GM Bose systems is a speaker-level-to-line-level converter tapped directly at the REAR DECK speakers, with the aftermarket amp mounted in the trunk near them. CAVEAT, stated plainly: that Bose tapping guidance was confirmed on a GM Bose thread centered on a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ, not on a LaCrosse specifically — it is GM-Bose-architecture guidance, correct in principle here, but not LaCrosse-verified.

Standard (non-hybrid) cars: 13.3 cu ft SAE trunk volume, consistent across 2010-2016 across multiple independent spec aggregators. IMPORTANT REAL SPLIT: eAssist mild-hybrid cars (offered 2012-2016) drop to 10.8 cu ft because the high-voltage battery pack is mounted in the trunk, in a compartment directly behind the rear seat. A 2010-2011 car also shows a 12.8 cu ft figure in some spec sets alongside 13.3 — the discrepancy is unresolved here and is likely a trim/spare-tire configuration difference, so treat 13.3 as the optimistic case, not a guarantee. Rear seat backs fold on this generation, so a cabin-to-trunk pass-through exists for a forward-firing box, but the fold mechanism itself was not measured.

Trunk Eassist Likely

eAssist cars only (2012-2016). 10.8 cu ft. The HV pack sits between the rear seat and the trunk, and its cooling fan draws air from a vent located in the package tray behind the rear seat. That vent is a real, hard constraint no ordinary trunk build has to think about: a box, amp rack, or trunk liner that seals off or blankets the package-tray area risks starving the pack's cooling air. Do not treat an eAssist LaCrosse as 'a LaCrosse with a smaller trunk' — treat it as a different cavity with a thermal keep-out zone.
