What we researched for this specific generation: where an enclosure actually fits, what the factory speakers are, how the factory audio is wired, and which real builds and commercial products exist for it. Confidence badges say how well each figure is sourced — this is research, not manufacturer spec.
Body styles covered: 2-Door Coupe, Convertible
These are researched envelopes, not a guarantee. Measure your own vehicle — the numbers here tell you what to expect, not what you have.
| Location | trunk, accessed via rear-seat fold-down (not the trunk opening itself) |
|---|---|
| Outer bounding box | Trunk OPENING is the binding constraint, not internal volume: ~14" wide, max ~9" box depth recommended. Product footprint used as internal-volume proxy: 30"W x 13"H x 19"D (single 12", ported). |
| Known obstructions | Access constraint is independent of volume — a box can have ample internal space and still be un-installable if built too deep/wide for the 14" opening. Convertibles have a further real constraint from the folding-top mechanism, limiting them to compact dual-8" designs where coupes can run dual 10"/12". |
| Usable volume estimate | 2 ft³ |
Suggested configurations for this vehicle, not prescriptions. Run the numbers in the Box Builder before you buy anything.
| Subwoofers | 1x10" (single-sub equivalent of the coupe spec) |
|---|---|
| Box type | sealed |
| Location | trunk, install via rear-seat fold-down, keep depth under 9" |
| Subwoofers | 1x12" ported, 30" port area, tuned 33Hz (coupe) or 2x8" compact (convertible) |
|---|---|
| Box type | ported (coupe) or sealed compact (convertible) |
| Location | trunk, install via rear-seat fold-down |
Sizes and depths below are what research turned up for this generation. Confirm against your own vehicle before cutting or ordering — trim levels vary.
| Factory speaker size | 6x9" — real, confirmed, genuinely different from the 5th Gen's 6-3/4" spec (confirms the entry's own earlier caution not to assume continuity). Compatible with 6.5"/6.75" aftermarket replacements. |
|---|---|
| Known obstructions | None specifically documented |
| Adapter bracket needed | unconfirmed |
| Tweeter | Dash corner / A-pillar area (Bose system) — exact single location not disambiguated. |
| Factory amp / premium audio | Bose system confirmed with real dash-mounted components (2.5" center, 2.360" corner units) — exact trim breakdown otherwise not confirmed. |
|---|---|
| Adding subs without a head-unit swap | Confirmed straightforward — trunk-based builds don't touch the head unit |
| Head unit | No replacement needed |
GENUINELY IMPORTANT REAL CONSTRAINT, distinct from every other vehicle so far: the trunk OPENING is only ~14" wide — too small for most pre-assembled large boxes. Real installer guidance: avoid box depths exceeding 9", and expect to install THROUGH the fold-down rear seat opening, not through the trunk lid itself. This is a structural access constraint, not a volume constraint — a box could have plenty of internal volume and still be un-installable if built too deep or too wide for the trunk opening. Real, specific body-style split: coupes support dual 10" or 12" rear-fire enclosures, while convertibles need compact designs (dual 8") specifically because of the extra space constraints the folding top mechanism imposes.

Measure your own vehicle. Trim levels, factory subwoofer options, and mid-generation changes all move these numbers, and a box cut to a researched figure that does not match your truck is wasted wood. Where a badge reads Unconfirmed, treat the value as a starting point for your own measurement, not as an answer.
