Real quote from a stereo shop: this generation's Dakota has the fuel tank ~1.5" below the rear seat area on the driver side, the frame rail ~2-3" below on the passenger side, and the driveshaft also intrudes on usable space — a genuinely tight, awkward cavity compared to the full-size trucks. Real builds found: a single 1.1 ft3 box behind the passenger rear seat with one 10" ported sub. MTX Thunderform is a known pre-made option (confirmed compatible '2000-2011,' spanning into part of the 2nd Gen too — a real, broader compatibility claim than most generation-specific products, flagged rather than treated as proof the two generations share identical cavities), but installing it prevents lifting the seat afterward — a real usability tradeoff worth surfacing to a user, not hiding. A real, low-profile-subwoofer workaround exists for owners specifically told this generation is 'challenging' by stereo shops.
