Outer bounding box	No independent measurement of the under-seat space is on file for this generation. The largest published vehicle-specific boxes set a lower bound, not the limit: Kicker's 51KFDL7T102 is 55-1/8"W x 8-1/4"H x 13-3/8"D, and Ground Shaker's quad 8" boxes are 56" long, 9" front height, 5 1/2" rear height and 13" deep. Both are contoured to the cab, so their outside sizes describe shapes that fit rather than the space itself.
Known obstructions	Trucks with the Sony premium system carry a floor-mounted factory subwoofer under the rear seat (Tuffy's lockbox listing excludes that option), so an under-seat box has to replace or clear it. Kicker's SF150SC15 manual has Sony-truck steps for relocating the factory amplifier and removing the factory subwoofer before its own box goes in. Ford's own 2015-2018 Kicker kit avoids the floor and mounts on the back wall of the cab.

Factory audio integration

Factory amp / premium audio	Premium audio changed brands inside this generation. 2015-2017 trucks offered Sony premium audio, with a floor-mounted factory subwoofer under the rear seat. For 2018 Ford says the F-150 "is the first Ford vehicle in the U.S. to feature a premium B&O PLAY audio system", built with HARMAN, and lists "10-speakers, AM/FM stereo, and a single-CD/MP3 player"; its 2017-18 vehicle guide calls it "An all-new B&O PLAY Premium Audio System by HARMAN". Ford's own 2015-2018 subwoofer kit works through the factory radio, which Ford says "utilizes the custom DSP built into the radio", so a base truck can add bass without changing the head unit. Owners report a 3.5" center speaker in the instrument panel and a 3.25" speaker elsewhere in the Sony system.
Adding subs without a head-unit swap	Yes, and the right product depends on the year and the audio system. Base audio, 2015-2018: Kicker's PF150SC15 is for trucks with "MyFord Radio (4in or 8in screen)" and not for Sony premium audio, and Ford's own VGL3Z18808A kit plugs into the factory radio with dealer programming (a Canadian Ford listing is reported to say "Not for use with F-150 Base XL vehicles"; not confirmed). Base audio, 2019-2020: Ford's separate VKL3Z18808A amp-and-subwoofer kit. Sony premium audio, 2015-2017: Kicker's SF150SC15 works "with or without Sony® System", PAC's APSUB-FD21 is built around the factory Sony amplifier, and Metra's FD-PPKT-1 covers the amplified Sony trucks. Metra FD-PPKT-1 full audio package. Metra lists F-150 Crew Cab 2015-2024 without a factory amp, and 2015-2017 with the amplified Sony system: 1" A-pillar tweeters, 6x9 front-door and 6.5" rear-door replacements on adapter plates, and a 10" sub in an enclosure under the rear driver-side seat. These are replacement sizes, not proof of the factory size.
Metra FD-PPKT-2, the path for the 2018-2020 B&O PLAY trucks: Metra lists it for F-150 Crew Cab 2018-2024 with the B&O amplified system, with an F-150 amp board built for that system.
Ford VGL3Z18808A audio upgrade (Ford accessory, 2015-2018 F-150, designed with Kicker): a "100 watt RMS amp with 8" dual voice coil, long-throw woofer" on the back wall of the cab, using the radio's DSP. The wattage and woofer wording is unverified on this part's own page (it did not load on 2026-10-15); Ford's VKL3Z18808A page prints the same "100 watt RMS amp with 8" dual voice coil" line. Dealer installation and programming required.

Under the rear seat is where nearly every vehicle-specific box for this truck goes. Ford's own 2015-2018 subwoofer kit, designed with Kicker, takes the other spot: Ford says its enclosure "mounts to the back wall of the cab to keep the load floor flat". Check for a factory subwoofer before buying an under-seat box: a retailer's Tuffy listing says the under-seat lockbox "will NOT fit with floor mounted Sony subwoofer option", and Sony was the premium system on 2015-2017 trucks (PAC and Metra list their Sony-truck parts for those years). Pickup boxes, for reference only: Ford lists 5.5-ft, 6.5-ft and 8.0-ft Styleside boxes. Its 2020 sheet prints 52.8, 62.3 and 77.4 cu. ft. of cargo box volume, and the F-150 pages of its 2017-18 guide print the same three figures (neither set is labelled SAE or EPA). The 2021-2024 F-150 has its own guide; many of the under-seat boxes below are listed for both trucks.

SuperCab boxes are separate products from the SuperCrew ones. A retailer lists JL Audio's SB-F-F150SPRCB/10TW3 Stealthbox for 2015-and-newer F-150 SuperCab with one 10-inch TW3 under the rear bench, and adds that the storage divider panel has to come out. Kicker made two powered kits for 2015-2018 SuperCab and SuperCrew trucks: the PF150SC15 for trucks with "MyFord Radio (4in or 8in screen)", not for Sony premium audio, and the SF150SC15, which Kicker says works "with or without Sony® System".
