What we researched for this specific generation: where an enclosure actually fits, what the factory speakers are, how the factory audio is wired, and which real builds and commercial products exist for it. Confidence badges say how well each figure is sourced — this is research, not manufacturer spec.
Body styles covered: 4-Door Subcompact Crossover
This guide covers the 2018-2024 Kicks only. The 2025-2025 Nissan Kicks has its own guide.
These are researched envelopes, not a guarantee. Measure your own vehicle — the numbers here tell you what to expect, not what you have.
| Location | cargo area |
|---|---|
| Outer bounding box | 39"W x 19"H x 16"-26"D |
| Known obstructions | Genuinely small trunk by class standards, per real owner consensus — size any addition conservatively. |
Suggested configurations for this vehicle, not prescriptions. Run the numbers in the Box Builder before you buy anything.
| Subwoofers | 1x8" powered, under-front-seat mount (real documented owner workaround for the small trunk) |
|---|---|
| Box type | n/a — powered unit, under-seat |
| Location | under front seat |
| Subwoofers | 1x8" or 1x10" compact sealed in the cargo area — there is no factory subwoofer to upgrade (Nissan lists none; Rockford Fosgate was a dealer-installed accessory) |
|---|---|
| Box type | sealed, compact |
| Location | cargo area (small by class standards — size conservatively) |
Sizes and depths below are what research turned up for this generation. Confirm against your own vehicle before cutting or ordering — trim levels vary.
| Factory speaker size | 6.5"/6.75" — real forum discussion confirms both figures are cited, and retailer sourcing (Crutchfield) confirms products exist for both sizes, meaning either mounting depth is a safe design target. |
|---|---|
| Known obstructions | GENUINE TECHNICAL WRINKLE, same category already flagged on the Corolla and Subaru BRZ/GR86 entries : the factory head unit is designed for 2-OHM speakers, while most aftermarket door speakers are 4-ohm — a straight swap changes the electrical load and should be accounted for, not assumed to just work. |
| Adapter bracket needed | unconfirmed |
| Factory speaker size | 5.25-inch wide-range speaker in each rear door on the Bose SR Premium Package (Nissan 2018 and 2019 kits); the size on the 6-speaker standard system is not published. |
|---|---|
| Known obstructions | None specifically documented |
| Adapter bracket needed | unconfirmed |
| Tweeter | n/a — tweeter is A-pillar mounted, front only |
| Factory amp / premium audio | CORRECTED 2026-10-02 from Nissan's own press kits: the premium system is BOSE Personal Plus on the SR Premium Package — "eight speakers and proprietary Bose signal processing", including "a pair of lightweight 2.5-inch Bose UltraNearfield neodymium speakers located inside the Kicks' driver's seat head restraint", "6.5-inch Bose Super65 speakers in each front door", "cross-firing 1.0-inch tweeters in each A-pillar" and "5.25-inch wide-range speakers in each rear door". No subwoofer or cargo-area woofers are listed. Standard system 6 speakers (2018-2022). The 2025 is an all-new generation, covered separately (Kicks 2025). Rockford Fosgate: Nissan's 2018 kit lists only "Optional Rockford Fosgate Audio: Available as port-installed accessory for $595" — a dealer-installed accessory, not a trim-level factory system, and the kit does not describe its contents. The earlier text (factory Rockford Fosgate trims with a pair of 6-3/4" cargo-area woofers) is not supported by Nissan's pages and may describe that accessory (not verified). |
|---|---|
| Adding subs without a head-unit swap | Confirmed via real forum discussion of low-effort/high-impact upgrades on SV-trim (non-Rockford-Fosgate) audio — doesn't require a head-unit swap, though the 2-ohm impedance consideration applies. |
| Head unit | No replacement needed |
CORRECTED 2026-10-02: an earlier note described Rockford Fosgate-equipped trims with a pair of 6-3/4" woofers in a factory cargo-area enclosure. Nissan's 2018, 2019 and 2022 press kits list no such system — the premium system is Bose Personal Plus (8 speakers, no subwoofer), and Rockford Fosgate appears only as a $595 port-installed accessory whose contents Nissan does not describe. The old description may be that accessory; it is not a factory trim-level system. Cargo dimension from the earlier research: 39"W x 19"H x 16"/26"D (its source and model year were not recorded: it was gathered on 2026-07-19, when this page treated 2018-2025 as one generation, so it may have been measured on either generation — confirm on your car before relying on it). A common, real owner complaint: the trunk is described as too small for adding a separate large subwoofer box, leading many owners toward an under-front-seat sub as a practical, space-constrained alternative instead.

Measure your own vehicle. Trim levels, factory subwoofer options, and mid-generation changes all move these numbers, and a box cut to a researched figure that does not match your truck is wasted wood. Where a badge reads Unconfirmed, treat the value as a starting point for your own measurement, not as an answer.
