Real, active build community on Rivian Forums / Rivian Owners Forum. Factory subwoofer lives under the rear seat, firing outward through a grille at the seat base, in a thin (~1/8") custom-molded plastic enclosure. Most documented aftermarket installs (a 10" JL powered sub via Crutchfield, wired with an 8AWG power kit routed under passenger-side carpet/plastics to the rear seat area) also use this same under-rear-seat location, replacing or supplementing the factory sub. A purpose-built product (SoonishEV 'Tubthumper' enclosure + wiring kit) exists specifically for Gen 1/Gen 2 R1T, plug-and-play with the OEM system, no cutting/splicing. Separately, some owners have installed subwoofer boxes in the Gear Tunnel (an 11.7 ft3, 65"-long pass-through storage area with LED lighting, 12V + 110V outlets) as an alternative, though this trades away Gear Tunnel storage.
