What we researched for this specific generation: where an enclosure actually fits, what the factory speakers are, how the factory audio is wired, and which real builds and commercial products exist for it. Confidence badges say how well each figure is sourced — this is research, not manufacturer spec.
Body styles covered: 4-Door Crossover
These are researched envelopes, not a guarantee. Measure your own vehicle — the numbers here tell you what to expect, not what you have.
| Location | spare tire well beneath cargo floor (gas and regular hybrid trims only — NOT Prime) |
|---|---|
| Outer bounding box | 11.22" cutout, 8.50" max mounting depth |
| Known obstructions | Prime's larger traction battery raises the cargo floor and reduces/eliminates this well — envelope does not apply to Prime trims |
| Usable volume estimate | 0.6 ft³ |
Suggested configurations for this vehicle, not prescriptions. Run the numbers in the Box Builder before you buy anything.

Sizes and depths below are what research turned up for this generation. Confirm against your own vehicle before cutting or ordering — trim levels vary.
| Factory speaker size | 6.5" (this 5th Gen); earlier gens used 5.25" on non-JBL systems — verify trim/generation before assuming |
|---|---|
| Known obstructions | None specifically documented |
| Adapter bracket needed | unconfirmed |
| Tweeter | n/a in the doors — non-JBL trims have a 3.5" dash tweeter (real, confirmed, notably described as having a 'super small magnet' — a real, honest quality caution, not just a generic size note); JBL-equipped trims instead have a true A-pillar tweeter with its own dedicated trim/grille molding, exact diameter not confirmed. Consistent with the sibling 4th Gen (2013-2018) entry's own confirmed dash-midrange-vs-A-pillar-tweeter distinction on JBL systems. |
| Factory speaker size | 6.5" (same as front) |
|---|---|
| Known obstructions | None specifically documented |
| Adapter bracket needed | unconfirmed |
| Tweeter | n/a — tweeter is front only |
| Factory amp / premium audio | Real, specific trim gating confirmed across this entry's full span. JBL Premium Audio (11-speaker) is STANDARD on RAV4 Limited (both gas and hybrid) for the entire Gen 5 run (2019-2025, matching this entry's span). Available as an optional upgrade on XSE, and via Premium Audio/Technology packages on Adventure, TRD Off-Road, and Hybrid XSE trims. Base/LE/XLE trims not confirmed to offer it at all. |
|---|---|
| Adding subs without a head-unit swap | Confirmed straightforward on gas AND regular hybrid trims via the spare-tire-well mounting location. Prime excluded — see safety note. |
| Head unit | No replacement needed |
CORRECTED 2026-07-09: an earlier version of this entry excluded the regular RAV4 Hybrid along with Prime — that was wrong. Confirmed via real research: the regular RAV4 Hybrid's battery sits under the REAR PASSENGER SEAT, does NOT take up extra cargo space, and the vehicle keeps its spare tire — cargo capacity is the same as the gas trim. Real spec: 0.60 ft3, 11.22" cutout, 8.50" max mounting depth, mounts in the spare tire well. This applies equally to gas and regular-hybrid trims. RAV4 PRIME is genuinely different and stays excluded: its much larger traction battery raises the cargo floor and measurably shrinks capacity (37.8 ft3 → 33.6 ft3), and loses or significantly reduces the spare-tire well the standard enclosure needs.

Measure your own vehicle. Trim levels, factory subwoofer options, and mid-generation changes all move these numbers, and a box cut to a researched figure that does not match your truck is wasted wood. Where a badge reads Unconfirmed, treat the value as a starting point for your own measurement, not as an answer.
