What we researched for this specific generation: where an enclosure actually fits, what the factory speakers are, how the factory audio is wired, and which real builds and commercial products exist for it. Confidence badges say how well each figure is sourced — this is research, not manufacturer spec.
Body styles covered: 4-Door Sedan
This guide covers the 2006-2013 Impala only. The 2014-2020 Chevrolet Impala has its own guide.
These are researched envelopes, not a guarantee. Measure your own vehicle — the numbers here tell you what to expect, not what you have.

Sizes and depths below are what research turned up for this generation. Confirm against your own vehicle before cutting or ordering — trim levels vary.
| Factory speaker size | 5.25"/6.5"/6.75" compatible, but real mounting depth constraint of only 2.9" — not a simple plug-and-play swap. |
|---|---|
| Max mounting depth | 2.9 in |
| Known obstructions | The 2.9" depth ceiling is the binding constraint, measured on this 2006-2013 car — genuinely shallower than the 2014-2020 tenth-generation Impala's 6x9 door, which is its own entry. |
| Adapter bracket needed | unconfirmed |
| Tweeter | n/a in the doors — this car's high-frequency speakers are A-pillar mounted instead (a 3.5" nominal opening). Real, genuinely constrained factory A-pillar cavity found: only 0.8" deep with 0.33" mounting height — a real, severe space constraint limiting aftermarket options even among 3.5" speakers that would otherwise fit. The rear-deck layout of this generation was not read; the dash and rear-deck entries that used to sit here are the 2014 tenth-generation car's. |
| Factory speaker size | unconfirmed for either generation |
|---|---|
| Adapter bracket needed | unconfirmed |
| Factory amp / premium audio | Not researched for this generation. The Bose Centerpoint 11-speaker layout that used to sit here (dash Twiddlers, rear-deck 6x9 with tweeters) is the 2014 tenth-generation Impala's — a 2014 owner post relaying Bose's answer — and lives in the 2014-2020 entry. What is this car's: the 3.5" A-pillar speakers in a 0.8"-deep cavity and CustomSpeakerPods' 2006-2015 A-pillar pods. |
|---|---|
| Adding subs without a head-unit swap | Confirmed straightforward — trunk-based builds don't touch the head unit |
| Head unit | No replacement needed |
Real measured trunk space: 36"W x 17"H x 40"D (front and back). Fits up to 2x12" or 3x10" sealed. Builders commonly tune ported boxes deep (34-37Hz) on this platform, consistent with its historical association with deep-bass/SPL trunk builds. Custom builders (AK Audio, SubThump, Sound Off Audio) all offer generation-specific products, pricing starting around $700 for built-to-order enclosures. The 2014-2020 tenth-generation Impala is a different car with its own entry; its 2014-2016 fleet-only sibling, the Impala Limited, is this W-body.

Measure your own vehicle. Trim levels, factory subwoofer options, and mid-generation changes all move these numbers, and a box cut to a researched figure that does not match your truck is wasted wood. Where a badge reads Unconfirmed, treat the value as a starting point for your own measurement, not as an answer.
