2014-2020 Chevrolet Impala 10th Gen — subwoofer box fitment

What we researched for this specific generation: where an enclosure actually fits, what the factory speakers are, how the factory audio is wired, and which real builds and commercial products exist for it. Confidence badges say how well each figure is sourced — this is research, not manufacturer spec.

Body styles covered: 4-Door Sedan

This guide covers the 2014-2020 Impala only. The 2006-2013 Chevrolet Impala has its own guide.

Where a box actually fits

These are researched envelopes, not a guarantee. Measure your own vehicle — the numbers here tell you what to expect, not what you have.

Trunk Unconfirmed

Locationtrunk
Outer bounding boxNot measured for this generation. Lower bound from a vehicle-specific product: Zenclosures' 2014-2020 Impala box, 0.86 ft3 per chamber, 8.25 in mounting depth (no outside dimensions published).
Known obstructionsNot documented. On Bose cars the amplifier sits on the right side of the trunk, per a 2014 owner post relaying Bose's answer (condensed rendering, unverified).

Door speaker fitment

Sizes and depths below are what research turned up for this generation. Confirm against your own vehicle before cutting or ordering — trim levels vary.

Front doors Solid

Factory speaker size6x9" factory, compatible with same-size, 6.5", or 6.75" aftermarket (2014-2016 per the 2026-07-09 retailer research; the same 6x9 front-door woofers appear in a 2014 owner post relaying Bose's 11-speaker layout). 2017-2020 not independently confirmed; ModifiedLife (secondary) lists 2014-2020 as one range.
Known obstructionsNo mounting depth is published for this door. The 2.9" limit on the 2006-2013 entry was measured on that (W-body) car and does not apply here.
Adapter bracket neededunconfirmed
Tweetern/a in the doors — on Bose cars the high frequencies come from 2.5" Bose 'Twiddler' speakers, one at each side of the instrument panel and one with each rear-deck 6x9 (2014, a forum post relaying Bose's answer). Non-Bose cars not read.

Rear doors Unconfirmed

Factory speaker sizeunconfirmed — a 2014 forum post relaying Bose's answer reads "Two 5.25-inch wide-range speakers" (the fetch tool's condensed rendering, not verified against the post's own words); ModifiedLife (secondary) lists 6-1/2" for 2014-2020. Neither applied as a figure.
Adapter bracket neededunconfirmed

Factory audio integration

Factory amp / premium audioBose Centerpoint Surround Sound premium 11-speaker system (Bose-equipped trims): 2.5" dash-mounted 'Twiddler' mid/high speakers at each side of the instrument panel plus a 3.5" centre, 6x9" front-door woofers, rear-door wide-range speakers, and rear-deck 6x9" woofers each with a 2.5" Twiddler; amplifier on the right side of the trunk; no trunk subwoofer. Documented for 2014 only, by a chevroletforum.com post relaying Bose's answer (read as the fetch tool's condensed rendering). The layout was first recorded on 2026-07-22 as 'dash Twiddlers, A-pillar tweeters, rear-deck 6x9+3" tweeter'; the A-pillar speaker is the previous-body car's and the 3" tweeter is not in the relayed layout. 2015-2020 and non-Bose cars not read.
Adding subs without a head-unit swapConfirmed straightforward — trunk-based builds don't touch the head unit; PAC's AmpPRO interface exists for the Bose cars (below)

Trunk Solid

No measured trunk envelope for this generation yet. The one vehicle-specific product on file installs through the trunk opening: Zenclosures' 2014-2020 Impala box, 0.86 ft3 per subwoofer/chamber, 8.25 in mounting depth, sealed. The 36"W x 17"H x 40"D trunk measurement on the 2006-2013 entry is the previous (W-body) car's and is not carried over; GM's own trunk figure for this car was not read. During 2014-2016 GM also sold the previous-body Impala Limited to fleets — that car is the 2006-2013 entry.

Before you cut anything

Measure your own vehicle. Trim levels, factory subwoofer options, and mid-generation changes all move these numbers, and a box cut to a researched figure that does not match your truck is wasted wood. Where a badge reads Unconfirmed, treat the value as a starting point for your own measurement, not as an answer.
